From installing rooftop gardens in NYC, to managing greenhouses, to gardening for Martha Stewart on her farm estate, and starting his own income-producing farm, Gavin has extensive horticultural, gardening and farming experience.  He has training and certifications in organic land care, composting systems and organic farming.  Gavin landed his first farming job at the age of 10 on his uncle’s dairy farm in Ireland where he was tasked with mucking out the cow stalls….He has since decided to specialize in fruits and vegetables!  However, those early years gave him an appreciation for animal welfare and the hard work necessary to have healthy food systems.  Gavin’s passion is food justice, he strives to provide as much healthy food to forgotten communities as possible.  He believes “Access to healthy produce should not be considered a luxury, but a human right.”  He’s known to take in farm animals, often rescuing them from difficult situations.  All the animals at Sweet Ring Farm have a job, rather it be providing compost for healthy food, land management, wool, eggs or simply companionship.
